You know it, you love it, one on one April1st, The Rock vs. John Cena. TeamBring It against the Cenation on April 1st 2012 in Miami Florida. Hell in a Cell is the Battle Ground betweenthe Undertaker and Triple H where the Undertaker’s Wrestlemania undefeatedstreak is on the line. Plus, ChrisJericho vs. CM Punk for the WWE Championship. Who is the best in the world? We’ll find out at WWE Wrestlemania 28 on April 1st 2012 in MiamiFlorida. Also, the 2012 Royal RumbleWinner, Sheamus vs. World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan for the gold.

With WWE Wrestlemania 28 inthirty six days, we have to spin back the hands of time twenty years ago toApril 5th 1992, in Indianapolis Indiana, in the Hosier Dome. One ofthe most entertaining matches in Wrestlemania 8, perhaps the bestIntercontinental Title match to take place in Wrestlemania history, the WWFIntercontinental Champion, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper defends his WWF IntercontinentalChampionship against Bret “The Hitman” Hart at Wrestlemania 8.

TheHot Rod vs. the Hitman-A Classic Match

Roddy Piper is one of the topheels in wrestling history. Fact cannot be disputed one hundred percent. RoddyPiper has had his share of battles over the years, but he never held singlesgold in the World Wrestling Federation into 1992. The Mountie defeated BretHart who had a fever of a 104 degrees(or so the storyline went) and two nightslater, at the Royal Rumble, Roddy Piper substituted for the ill Bret Hart totake down the Mountie. The Mountie might be handsome, brave, and strong but hedid not get his man o this night.

The stage was set for a one onone match. Bret Hart and Roddy Piper for the WWF Intercontinental Title. Manypeople love the Mr. Perfect vs. Bret Hart match from WWF Summerslam 1991 andfor good reason, that match kicked ass. But this might be the match that solidifiedBret Hart as a future main event star and the proper choice for WWFIntercontinental Champion.

This was babyface vs. babyface, but there were hints that Roddy Piper was reverting to his heelish roots. BretHart was busted open. A real blade job but Bret Hart was smart to make it looklike he got split up hardway. As opposed to Ric Flair who sliced his head openlike it was nothing and got fined. Then again Ric Flair’s blood was likelythinned by his various vices over the years.

But that is beside the point.

Piper was conflicted but in theend, he stayed true, he did not follow Bobby Heenan’s helpful advice of “whatthe hell, use the bell!” Piper opts for a sleeperhold but Bret Hart kicks offthe turnbuckles and scores the pin. That finish was used many times andwhenever it pops up, Bret Hart and Roddy Piper were given the credit. Thiswould really be the swansong for Piper in many ways as a full time professionalwrestler(of course Piper did have an on and off schedule, but from this pointon, he showed up once a year for cameos until going to WCW where he worked ascattered schedule and then various stints of WWE).

Roddy Piper vs. Bret Hart…this myfriends is wrestling at its finest. WWEWrestlemania 28, 36 days away on April 1st 2012 in Miami.
