Rudevs. Warrior-The Heenan Family Strikes Gold

Cut the music.

Rick Rude and the UltimateWarrior made their debut in the World Wrestling Federation in 1987. Rude joinedthe Heenan Family managed by Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. The Ultimate Warrior hada feud with Hercules, before being the man to end the WWF IntercontinentalReign of the Honky Tonk Man after fourteen long months. Warrior and Rude wereon a collision course, big muscle men ready to collide. The first majorconfrontation was during the 1989 WWF Royal Rumble, where Rick Rude attackedthe Ultimate Warrior with an iron bar during a pose down. This set the stagefor the Ultimate Warrior to defend his WWF Intercontinental Title against RickRude.

Prior to that point, Bobby Heenanhad not lead anyone to championship gold in the Heenan Family. He had hischances, many opportunities, but many of them were rather misplaced to say thevery least. Rick Rude managed to change all that. Many considered this match tobe the Ultimate Warrior’s best so far, but Rude and Warrior would have manybetter matches to come.

Rick Rude battled the UltimateWarrior an intense back and forth match. Bobby Heenan proved why he is thebrain in Atlantic City New Jersey at Wrestlemania V, tripping up Warrior and allowingRude to get the pin, winning the WWF Intercontinental Title Match. Gold wasbrought to the Heenan Family, with Warrior battering Heenan afterwards.

The next year, the UltimateWarrior would go onto bigger things, but that is another story for a futurepart.

Now hit the music.
