24 Days Until WWE Wrestlemania 28
In 2008, Ric Flair was preparing to retire. Please hold your laughter. Flair was going through a storyline where if he had lost even one match, he would have to retire. Ric Flair triumphed in matches over MVP, Mr. Kennedy, and even the WWE Champion Randy Orton to keep his title. But at Wrestlemania 24, he would have his toughest challenge. Where Ric Flair would set right into the ring with Shawn Michaels.
At another time, Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels would have been perhaps the greatest match ever. And while Shawn Michaels should still go, it was sad to say that Ric Flair was a few steps slower than his peak. Still better than most would be at his age. The match was set for Orlando, Wrestlemania 24. If Ric Flair lost, he would retire from wrestling. Shawn Michaels was set out to take down a man he had assumed to an idol, a mentor, a hero.
It was a battle between Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair and perhaps it was not as good as one would expect. It was a step or two behind the average Ric Flair match from back in the day but perhaps one of the last great matches in Ric Flair's career. Flair fought Michaels, Michaels fought back, with Mr. Wrestlemania bringing it to the table. Flair refused to go down until he was put down with some Sweet Chin Music. "I'm Sorry, I Love You" said Shawn Michaels to Ric Flair before he hit Sweet Chin Music
Mr. Wrestlemania gets another one on his belt, with Shawn Michaels beating Ric Flair. What will happen on April 1st 2012. Stay tuned with twenty four more days until Wrestlemania.
