28 Days Until Wrestlemania 28

Shawn Michaels in 1998 was the World Wrestling Federation Champion and Stone Cold Steve Austin was the rising juggernaut. It seemed quite obvious that both of these great warriors would be going one on one would be a happening and it was. With Boxing Great Mike Knox right in the midst of things, as the special guest enforcer, things were interesting.

From a backstage perspective, things were even more interesting, with the back of Shawn Michaels being thrashed and thus being barely able to compete, not competing a match in between the Royal Rumble 1998 and WWF Wrestlemania 14. It seemed obvious that Austin won, but the usual round of backstage Politics by Michaels and the fact that Mike Tyson joined DeGeneration X just a few weeks before Wrestlemania 14. So things were not for certain.

Give the devil his due and say that Shawn Michaels put on a great performance, despite his injuries. Chemical assistance was something that might have been done but regardless Mr. Wrestlemania stepped right up to the plate and hit another one out of the park. Stone Cold Stunner is avoided as is the Sweet Chin Music before Austin hits the Stone Cold Stunner. Stone Cold Steve Austin wins his first World Wrestling Federation Championship with Mike Tyson raising his hand.

It was another great match and another performance for Shawn Michaels. When he returned to the ring the next time for Wrestlemania 19 against Chris Jericho it would be one for the ages, but that is tomorrow.
