Wrestlemania 29 Main Event Rumors

No that was not in fact a typo, this would be WWE Wrestlemania 29 which will be taking place on April 7 2013 in East Rutherford New Jersey. Apparently as rumors should state from some somewhat reputable wrestling websites, we're going to do the Wrestlemania main event announced a year in advance thing once again. Whether or not this has worked well or not for John Cena versus the Rock this year, is up for a lot of debate. We will learn that fact when the final buyrate comes out, whether it is much higher, about the same as if you had announced the main event six weeks before officially, or whatever it may be.

Yet, based on something that is going to happen on WWE Wrestlemania 28, there is going to be the main event of Wrestlemania 29 announced a year advance. WWE making a match for the second year in a row, with a company that changes their mind more times than most people change their underpants. But regardless we may know the big match this year coming this Monday on RAW, the night after Wrestlemania 29.

There may be spoilers for the finishes of WWE Wrestlemania 28 should these rumors be proven to be true so be warned.

Potential Main Event for WWE Wrestlemania 29 in 2013

It is really highly likely that we are going to have yet another round of the Rock versus John Cena next year, with either the Rock beating John Cena in the closest match in his career(pretty likely) and some kind of screwy non finish, mandating a second match(not as likely, but figured I'd throw it out there). Obviously if John Cena wins, then there is no point of having the Rock against John Cena again and John Cena just falls right back to doing what John Cena does throughout the year.

There have been some rumors of a three match series between the Rock and John Cena, which obviously stands to reason that the Rock would have to win the first match, with Cena pulling out the win in the second, and then doing whatever in the third, most likely Cena defying the odds yet again with a more decisive victory.

I think that it is all but official that we may be getting Brock Lesnar against the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 29. Obviously there might be problems with getting Lesnar to be a part of Wrestlemania 28 to start setting up the match, as he is still technically under UFC contract until July. And given the trouble that WWE had to get Ric Flair to be part of the Hall of Fame, with TNA having no where near the legal muscle and credibility that UFC does, then obvious there might be problems. Of course, Lesnar against the Undertaker may very well happen at Wrestlemania 29 but perhaps not the set up main event. Even though it might be another one of those Undertaker/Shawn, Rock/Hogan things.

The most common rumored match would be Shawn Michaels taking on Triple H, based off of Michaels costing Triple H the Hell in a Cell Match against the Undertaker. Therefore it sets up Shawn Michaels coming out of retirement to take on Triple H. On a personal level as fan, I'm rather conflicted. On the one hand, I think that we all pretty much accepted that Shawn Michaels was coming back sooner rather than later.

On the other hand, by 2004, I had seen enough Shawn Michaels and Triple H matches to last for the rest of my life. Scarily enough, many members of the WWE Universe were not even born. From a business standpoint, you might as well. We really should be preparing new stars for the main event and not go back to the same old tricks. That is a wide problem and it is not the fault of the Rock coming back or whatever, it is just no one is allowed to get to too high of a level, for fear they might pull a Brock Lesnar. Ironic enough given one of the rumored big matches for April 7th 2013.

Regardless, WWE is planning to announce another Wrestlemania main event a year in advance. Whether or not this is a smart idea to try this again, given how Cena and Rock kind of did flame out a little bit towards the end, your mileage may vary.
