WWE NXT 04/18/12 Review

It is that time of the week, for the show that never dies, WWE NXT Season 5 Redemption. Over the past few weeks, Matt Striker was kidnapped and this week, the consequences of that storyline will take place, for Tyler Reks and Curt Hawkins this week. NXT Match Coordinator William Regal has something dastardly cooked up. It is not the time for chat, it is the time to review NXT 4/18/12.

WWE NXT April 18th 2012 Review

Derrick Bateman narrates us a video package that brings us to speed of the events on NXT. For Those who missed it.

1)Striker has problems with Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks
2)Regal is made NXT Match Coordinator.
3) Johnny Curtis uses the chloroform on Striker.
4) Striker is kidnapped.
5) Reks and Hawkins kidnap Striker to blackmail Maxine into having Regal get off their backs
6)Regal is not happy, threatens trouble for Reks and Hawkins
7) Matt Striker is found by Derrick Bateman and Kaitlyn.

And now with that business out of the way, it is now time for the latest episode of the show that never dies, NXT Season 5 Redemption.

Percy Watson picked up the win over Johnny Curtis

Return match from last week, with Maxine sitting in on commentary, attempting to throw Johnny Curtis underneath the bus. This match dragged on a bit but picked up during the last few minutes. As always, the commentary tends to be the highlight of this show and pretty much most of the reason to watch as these two men have a by the numbers encounter, with Percy Watson picking up the win with a huge flapjack.

Johnny Curtis is called to the ringside area, protesting that he has not had his post match shower, for the next match between Kaitlyn and Maxine.

Maxine defeated Kaitlyn

The commentary was a fun train wreck as usual. Derrick Bateman used to play as Regal in WCW/NWO Revenge apparently. Curtis denies involvement and says that Maxine cannot be trusted. Somewhere in this muddled insanity, where this show continues to be just an acid trip without the acid every week, Maxine wins with the Dragon Sleeper.

After the match, Regal says that since Maxine and Curtis seem to make a great pair, Maxine will be the manager of Johnny Curtis or they are fired. He says that they are going to sign a contract or be gone. They do under protest and then Regal handcuffs them together. Neither are happy with this development. Regal says that he had these leftover from the last time he got arrested, figuring that they might come in handy but he doesn't have the key. Now we have Curtis and Maxine handcuffed together, that is great.

Darren Young has some words for Titus O'Neil about the Tamina situation but it doesn't matter as they have gotten contracts to go to Smackdown.

Matt Striker is plotting his unholy revenge on Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks for his attack on NXT Season 5.

RAW Rebound featuring the lead up to Chris Jericho and CM Punk at Extreme Rules.

Then we have Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks going to figure out how to get out of this, when Maxine and Johnny Curtis are both struggling with the handcuffs, as many questions are no doubt raised in the minds of the people watching that we don't want to know the answers for. Percy Watson, Derrick Bateman, and Kaitlyn are amused by this situation but Hawkins says he has a plan to deal with this.

Now we have Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks, who deny their involvement and they don't care. Matt Striker comes out, with the walking stick and reveals what he went through, with the savage cane beatdown. Striker is more fired up then ever and is prepared to murder Reks and Hawkins with the walking stick and the fans were buzzing but Regal stepped in, making a Loser Gets Fired Match between the two. In a great moment, Reks goes to say Hawkins and him are tight, right as Hawkins punches him in the face. It is on now.

Tyler Reks defeated Curt Hawkins in a Loser Gets Fired Match with Matt Striker as the guest referee

Regal relies an anecdote about his grandfather throwing a rat and a ferret into a bucket and watching them fight. This was the match of the evening pretty much. Reks eventually gets the win, rolling up Curt Hawkins to get the win. As a result, Hawkins is fired.

Hawkins gets into it with Striker but gets punched right in the face, taking a dive. Tyler Reks looks pleased but Regal decides to fire him as well. Surely the fact that they are future endeavored for real cannot be too far off as it is about time for the Post-Wrestlemania firing season.

It was NXT. What more do you need to know?
