30 Days Until WWE Wrestlemania 28

Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels, two superstars that defined an era in WWF, the New Generation Era. Their rivaled history both inside and outside of the ring is storied. And now we are going to take a look at their sixty minute Iron Man Match.

Shawn Michaels won the 1996 Royal Rumble, making his return after being beaten by "thirteen thugs in Syracuse New York". The real story is fascinating but behind the scope of these articles. Bret Hart had won his third World Wrestling Federation Title from Diesel after a year reign at the 1995 Survivor Series. These two great wrestlers were set to go one on one, sixty minutes, the most falls in an hour was your winner. Shawn Michaels was going to achieve the boyhood dream, ziplining down to face Bret Hart.

The match as it was, had its moments, but the crowd really did sit on their hands. It was an Iron Man Match, with sixty minutes and no fall, with Bret Hart cranking the Sharpshooter on Shawn Michaels towards the end. Shawn Michaels hung on and the bell rung, signifying a 0-0 tie. WWF President Gorilla Monsoon came down to the ring and restarted the match which Shawn Michaels won with the Sweet Chin Music. The boyhood dream had come true and Shawn Michaels was the new WWF Champion.

This match has divided fans for years. Half thing it is good and the other half things it is highly overrated. I think that the Iron Man stipulation while a good idea in theory, not so much in practice. Especially given the fact with the 0-0 tie. Yet that is another notch in the belt of Mr. Wrestlemania himself, Shawn Michaels.

April 1st 2012, what new Wrestlemania memories will be made in Miami? Tune in and find out.
