30 Days until Wrestlemania 28

Let's talk about one of the great matches in Wrestlemania history. The battle between Shawn Michaels and Scott "Razor Ramon" Hall. The Ladder Match to declare an undisputed WWF Intercontinental Champion at WWF Wrestlemania X at Madison Square Garden on March 20th 1994.

Sometimes the worst of circumstances can bore something great. Shawn Michaels was in the middle of a good run as WWF Intercontinental Champion in the summer of 1993 but he failed a drug test. There is also a rumor that he had been poking around WCW, so he was suspended to put him in line, but that is unfounded. Razor Ramon who was off a successful babyface turn, stepped right into the ring and took the WWF Intercontinental Title, winning a 20  man battle royal.

A couple months later, Shawn Michaels returned with his own belt, claiming that he was an undisputed match. Therefore the first televised Ladder Match in WWF/E history was made between Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels. The thing about this match is that it did not rely on the overblown stunt shows of future Ladder Match. It was very simple, but it worked, it told a good story. Razor Ramon managed to outmaneuver Shawn Michaels in an environment that suited him. Shawn's bodyguard Diesel was sent to the back and Razor managed to knock Michaels off of a ladder, causing him to get tangled into the ropes.

Say what you want about the Kliq but they had good matches all of the time. This was pretty much a huge notch in cementing Shawn Michaels as Mr. Wrestlemania. He lost the match but he stole the show.
