WWE Wrestlemania 28 Review

It is now time for your Wrestlemania 28 report. The match that was a year in the making, the Rock taking on John Cena will headline tonight. Also the End of an Era Match, with the Undertaker taking on Triple H inside the confines of Hell in a Cell with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee. The WWE Champion CM Punk defends against Chris Jericho and the World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan defends against the 2012 Royal Rumble winner Sheamus. There is no time to waste, it is now time to review all of the highlights as we watch WWE Wrestlemania 28.

WWE Wrestlemania 28 Review April 1st 2012

In the pre show free match, Epico and Primo successfully retained the WWE Tag Team Titles against the Usos and Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel. A solid enough opening match to hopefully get the crowd hot.

Sheamus defeated Daniel Bryan to win the World Heavyweight Title in 18 seconds

Words fail me. Brogue Kick wins.

Team Johnny are plotting and scheming backstage.

Kane defeated Randy Orton

Match was about what you might expect and obviously seems like worst given that it came right after the 18 second Daniel Bryan against Sheamus World Heavyweight Title Match. Kane nails the Choke Slam for the pin. Rehabilitated Kane a little bit after he lost about nine million matches to John Cena.

We see a segment with Santino Marella, Mick Foley, and some kind from the Deadliest Catch on Wrestlemania 28, the show with an 18 second Sheamus against Daniel Bryan match.

The Big Show defeated Cody Rhodes to win the WWE Intercontinental Title

The longest Intercontinental Title reign in years ended here with a whimper, but it was an obvious finish. Not much to this one, as this seems to be getting off on the wrong foot already, with the Beautiful Disaster being avoided and Show hitting the WMD for the pin for his first Intercontinental Title.

Maria Menounos and Kelly Kelly defeated Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres when Maria pinned Beth Phoenix

Vince McMahon is either putting on the best damn April Fool’s joke ever with this Wrestlemania show or he has honestly lost what little sanity he’s been clinging onto as of late. You’ve seen one diva’s match, you know what you expect, so really not too much to complain about, other than this match lasted more than eighteen seconds that Daniel Bryan against the 2012 Royal Rumble winner Sheamus got for the World Heavyweight Title.

Undertaker defeated Triple H in Hell in a Cell to Become 20-0 at Wrestlemania 28

Okay, WWE you’re partially forgiven, this was a good match, I’d have to say that it was better than last year, with lots of intrigue and lots of insanity. I don’t think that you’d ever have a better match with either of these men ever again. The Undertaker wins with the Tombstone Piledriver with a half of an hour of great action. Shawn Michaels was put in the Hell’s Gate inadvertently and then he gave Undertaker Sweet Chin Music. Sledgehammer shots, chair shots, Pedigrees, choke slams, lots of nearfalls. This might have been one of those “you had to be in the moment and watch it matches” but we shall see how it holds up on a second viewing. Respect from all three men after the match.

Hall of Fame Guys come out.

Heath Slater and Flo-Rida, yep.

Team Johnny featuring David Otunga, Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, the Miz, and Mark Henry defeated Team Teddy featuring Santino Marella, Great Khali, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, Booker T, and Zack Ryder

Bit of a cluster but a fun cluster between these twelve men. In a moment I’m sure shocked no one, Eve turned on Zack Ryder and the Miz hit the Skull Crushing Finale for the pin. John Laurinaitis is now the man in charge of both shows.

John Laurinaitis and CM Punk have a chat, where if he gets disqualified, the title changes hands.

CM Punk defeated Chris Jericho to retain the WWE Championship

This match was about as good as you expected, and obviously for a brief second, one would think that Punk would lose the belt based on the stipulations that were set up Punk remains the WWE Champion making Jericho tap out with the Anaconda Vice.

Brodus Clay fun and games time.

The Rock defeated John Cena

Yes indeed, it’s hard to say that the wrong person went over in this one, because given what happened, the Rock really needed to go over, if they wanted to do this one again next year for a second time. The Rock survived the Attitude Adjustment and Rock Bottom gets the pin, pinning John Cena cleanly. A good main event match.

Well this wasn’t the best Wrestlemania of all time for sure, due to obvious reasons, but it had some solid to good matches, so it worked in that sense. Lesnar or Batista didn’t show up but there’s always RAW to kick off something for the 2012-2013 WWE Season.
