WWE RAW for May 7th 2012 is live and in living color, as we are on the road to Over the Limit just two weeks away. On tap tonight on RAW is the WWE Champion CM Punk going one on one with Lord Tensei. It's time to watch WWE RAW 5/7/12 and review all of the highlights.
WWE RAW May 7th 2012 Review
Here's Johnny! John Laurinaitis is out to the ring, to start the show, talking about John Cena and more importantly talking himself up, as some great icon. I do enjoy the fact that power seems to be really corrupting Johnny Boy here, making him delusion. CM Punk comes out after a spell. Yeah this storyline kind of got dropped cold a while back but we might be picking it up again. Punk says that Laurinaitis does not represent the people. Laurinaitis says that if he was not intense training, he would shut Punk's mouth, but instead gives CM Punk a match with Lord Tensei. Punk looks forward to the challenge Fair enough segment to open up WWE RAW that accomplished what it needed to do.
Our General Manager is backstage, with some not so kind words about the Big Show. The Big Show mocks the voice of one John Laurinaitis. Which Eve hears. The plot does thicken.
The Big Show defeated WWE Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes via countout
This match was just a back drop for the storyline at hand. Rhodes gets himself counted out and the Big Show gets the win.
Show demands Rhodes get back into the ring, but Eve is out, to demand that the Big Show apologize for making fun of Laurinaitis. Big Show doesn't seem too thrilled but he has no choice but to apologize to Johnny Boy. This is...well perhaps not the lowest point of the Big Show's career because I'm sure there were a few others but it has to be pretty much up there.
Dolph Ziggler defeated Kofi Kingston with the Zig Zag.
Oh boy, this match again. Granted it's not bad, but talk about something that is overplayed as everything. Mason Ryan cameos and we see Epico, Primo, Rosa, and A.W. watching the match backstage. Ziggler picks up the win with the Zig Zag for the pin.
John Cena cuts a promo via satellite. What a hypocrite. The usual Cena promo where he promises to really put a beating on John Laurinaitis during their match at Over the Limit.
Layla and Kelly Kelly defeated Natalya and Maxine
Extreme Expose back together again. Maxine makes RAW. In all of this, we just have another standard Divas match. Layla hits her neckbreaker to score the pin on Maxine. This match was what it was on WWE RAW.
Chris Jericho and Alberto Del Rio defeated Randy Orton and Sheamus
A good solid tag team bout between these four men. Jericho just seems to be kind of there with the Punk feud wrapping up. Sheamus brogue kicks Randy Orton by accident and Jericho hits the Codebreaker on the Great White for the pin. Jericho poses with the belt. After the fact, Orton registers his disapproval with the RKO. This set up an entire summer full of title feuds for Sheamus, if WWE follows up on them. Good stuff right there.
Or it could be a set up for a Fatal Four Way Match between Jericho, Del Rio, Orton, and Sheamus, which Johnny Boy makes.
Brodus Clay is out for some fun but here comes the Miz, who is complaining about his lot in life. Well you haven't truly hit bottom Miz. When you're losing to Heath Slater on NXT, then you can complain. Miz has a match against Brodus Clay right now.
Brodus Clay defeated the Miz
We all knew this one was good. Solid enough match, not a squash, Brodus getting some time to shine in this one. Miz is the chew toy, eating a T-Bone Suplex and a splash for the three count.
Next segment, something wonderful happened, when have the return of Paul Heyman. Heyman is out to chat about the Brock Lesnar situation. Since they have Paul Heyman, why they made Brock talk does baffle me because he's kind of not good at it, but we have him now and he reads a legal statement, saying that Lesnar has quit due to his poor treatment. Which is a work, I think, at least for now.
John Laurinaitis makes this one a two on one handicap match, adding Daniel Bryan to Lord Tensai's team against CM Punk.
Daniel Bryan and Lord Tensai defeated CM Punk
This Daniel Bryan and CM Punk, WWE Championship Match just seems like an afterthought which is a shame because it's Daniel Bryan and CM Punk and it's for the title. So that's wrong on two accounts. Punk tries but gets overwhelmed by the odds, being put away by the claw of doom and despair from Tensai.
Then at the end, Daniel Bryan puts CM Punk in the YES! Lock, torturing and tormenting him. Punk struggles against his grip. Daniel Bryan talks trash to Punk.
Overall a rather good episode of RAW.
