WWE RAW 7/23/12 Review

DOOM! Sorry, force of habit.

Mr. McMahon is out to kick off WWE RAW in style for this 1000th episode of WWE RAW.

Here comes DeGeneration X. Shawn Michaels and Triple H kick off tonight, and we have some friends, in Billy Gunn, X-Pac, and the Road Dogg making their way out. Its all fun and games, until Damien Sandow comes out. Sandow is appalled. DX is appalled with him being appalled, so he gets beaten up for his troubles. Fun opening here.

Brock Lesnar in the house tonight. The Rock is here. AJ and Daniel Bryan get married. And CM Punk defends the WWE Championship against John Cena.

Rey Mysterio, Sin Cara, and Sheamus defeated Chris Jericho, Dolph Ziggler, and Alberto Del Rio.

Well you can do far worse than getting the matches tonight started up with a six man tag team match. And really, this was a fair little match, with all six man battling with each other. Jericho gets pinned, I know shocking, eating the Brouge Kick for the pin. Fun action to kick off the 100th RAW.

Social media BS. Don't care.

Charlie Sheen talks about the show and talks about how he'd fit in DX.

Daniel Bryan and A.J recap.

A.J and Layla chat. A.J. is not crazy. Roddy Piper and R-Truth with little Jimmy. This show is just shoehorning a bunch of cameos to distract us from the doom. Mae Young shows up with a guy in a hand costume, it's her son all grown up. We're busting out all of the old hits.

Brodus Clay defeated Jack Swagger.

Former World Heavyweight Champion and potential future future endeavor, Jack Swagger gets squashed. Then gets beaten up by Mick Foley and given Socko.

Trish Stratus is in the house with Triple H and X-Pac.

Time to for the marriage and we have Reverend Slick out to the ringside area to do the ceremony. It is a great day, vows are exchanged, as are yeses but the yes is not to Daniel Bryan, rather another man. Out comes Vince McMahon and he makes A.J. the New General Manager of RAW. She dumps Daniel Bryan and CM Punk comes out. Punk mocks Bryan but Daniel Bryan says he's better than Punk and the greatest WWE Superstar of all time.

And here comes the Rock. The Rock will challenge the WWE Champion at the Royal Rumble. Punk hopes it is him. The possibility of Rock/Cena II is talked about and Daniel Bryan steps in, he will not be denied. The Rock makes fun of him and lays him out. The Rock is great as always.

The Miz defeated Christian to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship

Well Christian's reign kind of went right down as one of the more underwhelming. Bret Hart is your ring announcer for this one. This is a fair match. Miz wins after a time with the Skull Crushing Finale for the pin.

Charlie Sheen talks about Daniel Bryan and mocks him.

Triple H is out to talk about the challenge and Paul Heyman is out to answer the challenge on behalf of Brock Lesnar. Heyman says no and Triple H's children get brought up. Stephanie McMahon comes out and tells Heyman not to bring up her children. Heyman is a failure as a businessman and his own children are ashamed of him. Wait, Heyman, reproduced? That made me shudder. Stephanie slaps Heyman right in the face. Heyman says that they will see Lesnar and Triple H at Summerslam, but hints that it is on her head what happens. Then Stephanie goes after Heyman. Brock Lesnar is out and we have fight.

Segment was good to set up WWE Summerslam.

Santino and Hornswoggle give out wrestling buddies. So much for Hornswoggle's heel turn.

Heath Slater is out and challenges anyone. Here comes Lita for a match.

Lita defeated Heath Slater

Lita has hired the APA to watch her back for this no disqualification match. Then all of the legends, Animal, Doink, Diamond Dallas Page, Bob Backlund, Roddy Piper, Rikishi, Sid, and Vader all run out and beat up Heath Slater. Moonsault gets the pin. Innocent fun.

Sean Mooney of all people shows up from the dead and interviews Daniel Bryan. His night has been ruined and he wants to beat up Charlie Sheen.

Social media stuff, with Michael Cole babbling about statistics.

Zack Ryder and John Cena chat. Mean Gene is revealed as being behind G-TV. Good of an explanation as any. The Rock shows up to wish Cena well.

Kane is out and here comes the enhancement talent. Poor McIntyre, he continues to be driven underneath the Earth with a spike. Undertaker is out and they beat up everyone. The Brothers of Destruction stand tall.

Charlie Sheen makes fun of Daniel Bryan again.

John Cena defeated CM Punk via disqualification; Punk keeps the WWE Championship.

Yeah, this one had its moments but I think this might have been the least of their matches. Here comes the Big Show to continue the feud that I'm sick of seeing. Some interference, that leads to a disqualification. I think they did something far worse than John Cena winning the title.

The Rock is out and he pummels the Big Show. Then Punk attacks the Rock mid People's Elbow. We have a heel turn, apparently. Good, Punk's had his bits cut off all year. GTS lays out the Rock and stand stall as Punk walks off.

Three hours of this every week? For the love of...show wasn't bad as I feared. The real test is next week when they don't have nineteen million cameos to rely on. It reminded me of that three hour January 4th Impact.
