We continue our travel through the WWF
Attitude Era Series with Part 113. The Undertaker squares off against
Kane in an Inferno Match. Plus, Chyna takes on X-Pac and more. WWF
RAW is WAR for February 22nd 1999 is the next part of the WWF
Attitude Era Series.
WWF Attitude Era Series Part 113:
WWF RAW is WAR 02/22/99
At WCW Superbrawl
IX, Hollywood Hogan kept the WCW World Championship against Ric
Flair, when Torrie Wilson convinced Ric's son David to turn on his
father. Rey Mysterio Jr was forced to unmask. Scott Steiner defeated
Diamond Dallas Page to retain the WCW Television Championship. Scott
Hall won the WCW United States Title against Roddy Piper and Bill
Goldberg beat Bam Bam Bigelow.
The next night on
Nitro, Goldberg and Scott Steiner went to a no contest. Then we had
Booker T become the number one contender to the WCW United States
title and beat Bret Hart in an epic match. The NWO mocked Ric Flair
once again.
WWF RAW is WAR 2/22/99.
We open with our
twenty minute opening promo with Vince McMahon, the Rock, and Paul
Wight, who is not yet the Big Show. Wight and the Rock are at each
other's throats. Mankind is out and a match is made, with the Rock
against Paul Wight for the WWF Championship. Mankind will be the
special guest referee.
Public Enemy defeated Gangrel and
Edge via disqualification.
The WWF television
debut of Public Enemy, although do not get too used to them sticking
around any time for too long. Christian interferes, not much of a
match. The Brood gives Public Enemy a blood bath. This was a standard
RAW match, not much to it.
Billy Gunn battled Ken Shamrock for
the number one contendership to the World Wrestling Federation
Intercontinental Title.
The current
champion Val Venis stands in for some commentary. Then both Gunn and
Shamrock have an intense back and forth encounter. In the end, Val
Venis rushed in. The bout is thrown out and thus we have no number
one contender.
Sable is out in
pure heel mode. She'll be on the playboy cover. Tori is out. Sable
rips into her and her comes Luna Vachon to stick up for Tori, so
Sable nails both of them with a belt.
D'Lo Brown wants a
handicap match against the World Wrestling Federation Tag Team
Champions Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrrett.
Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett defeated
D'Lo Brown.
D'Lo gives this
one a fight but he's overwhelmed one hundred percent of the time. We
still have the feud with PMS as Jacqueline interferes. Owen Hart
blasts D'Lo with a spinning heel kick to score the pin. The WWF Tag
Team Champions have won.
Paul Wight battled the Rock for the
WWF Championship to a no contest.
Mankind is the
special guest referee for this match. In the grand tradition of Vince
Russo, we get a swerve as Mankind is beaten down by Wight and the
Rock. Vince McMahon watches in glee. The trio taunts Austin, who will
face the Rock for the World Wrestling Federation Championship at
Wrestlemania 15.
Steve Blackman defeated Droz.
Blackman beats
down Droz but Droz fires back briefly. The Lethal Weapon kicks Droz
right for the pin. The three count is made. Blackman is your winner.
Droz knocks Blackman around with the Singapore Cane after the match.
Vince McMahon gets
Kane prepared for his Inferno Match.
Goldust defeated the WWF
Intercontinental Champion Val Venis in a non title match.
Back and forth
encounter, with Goldust gaining the advantage. Here comes the Blue
Meanie as Venis fires back and Meanie attacks Venis. This allows
Goldust to pick up the win. Fair enough match, and nice showcase for
Goldust.
Chyna talks about
the match with X-Pac and says Shane will be the champion still.
Hardcore Holly retained the World
Wrestling Federation Hardcore Championship against Bart Gunn.
The former New
Midnight Express members collide tonight on RAW. Holly and Gunn beat
up each other right in the ring and hit each other with weapons. This
bout is fair enough but the Road Dogg hardcore matches were better.
Here's Doctor Death in a Kabuki Mask to break up the offense and
attack Bart Gunn. Gunn crashed through a table and Steve Williams
covered for the win.
Stone Cold Steve
Austin is hyped for a guest appearance on Nash Bridges.
X-Pac defeated Chyna to earn a WWF
European Championship Match at Wrestlemania 15.
Obviously not
much, as Triple H chased Shane around the ring. Then he attacked
Chyna and nailed her with the Pedigree. X-Pac pinned and as a result
he will face Shane McMahon at Wrestlemania 15 for the WWF European
Championship.
Vince McMahon
calls out Kane and says that the Undertaker will burn tonight in the
Inferno MAtch.
The Undertaker defeated Kane in an
Inferno Match.
The Undertaker has
not wrestled in two months and this is the first Inferno Match in the
history of RAW. We have seen this match before, more times than I
care to remember. Undertaker beats up Kane, but Kane returns fire.
Boot is blocked and Undertaker sets Kane's leg on fire.
The Undertaker has
a box with a teddy bear and burns it, to laugh. Vince McMahon looks
horrified.
WWF Sunday Night
Heat from 02/28/99 had technical difficulties. Therefore we pick up
with the WWF Attitude Era Series Part 114 with WWF RAW is WAR on
March 1st 1999, with the Undertaker taking on Mankind and Kane facing
off against Stone Cold Steve Austin.
