Cena versus Lesnar Extreme Rules

Just heard the latest rumors as Extreme Rules will be not the main event that was announced in commercials but rather they are jumping straight right for the jugular in WWE after the huge debut of Brock Lesnar on RAW the night after Wrestlemania 28, where he took out John Cena with the F-5. Well the match is on, one on one, for the entire world to see, at Extreme Rules.

Brock Lesnar versus John Cena at Extreme Rules, Good Idea or Bad?

I'm rather in two minds about this one. On the one hand, having this main event what is essentially a rather throw away show, a B-Show is the height of all insanity to say the very least. On the other hand, WWE has a track record of having hot beginnings for story lines and eventually screwing them up due to creative being inept. So it is just as well that this match is done right out of the box and one could argue that Cena versus Lesnar is not the most interesting dream match.

Interestingly enough, nine years ago this month, a very different John Cena had an unsuccessful bid for the WWE Championship against Brock Lesnar.

Then again, who knows what will be announced on television. One point to note is that Brock Lesnar has only a certain number of dates that he is signed on. Which means WWE cannot blow right through his dates. I do find it curious when wrestlers are signed for dates, rather than a flat contract, which happens all of the time in TNA but obviously Brock Lesnar did have WWE by the throat, they need him, a lot more than it needs them.

Obviously Lesnar versus John Cena will be an interesting match. It has been a long time since Brock Lesnar has had an actual wrestling match, against Kurt Angle in 2007 for the fake IWGP Title. That is the last time Brock Lesnar has competed in professional wrestling. So there may be some ring rust so don't be surprised if this match is not up to a certain standard.

Brock Lesnar will be an interesting one to watch in WWE, as many do doubt that he'll put up with the politics. If WWE tries to approach this with their usual mentality to try and send a message to show that no one is bigger than the company, Lesnar will be inclined to take his ball and walk. He's done it before, he'll do it again.

It will be interesting what happens on RAW if anything, with one Brock Lesnar.
