WWE Smackdown Report 07/03/12

A wacky crew of misfits start the show, with Kane starting the grill with some pyro. This may be a long evening.

Alberto Del Rio is out here, to celebrate himself. He accuses the fans of being illegal immigrants. Oh Jesus. Sheamus is out and brawl with Del Rio. Ricardo gets involved and gets beat up. Then Del Rio lays out Sheamus. This match got delayed for months because of circumstances and the build up has been gloriously apathetic.

Sheamus is tended to.

Layla and the Great Khali defeated Aksana and Antonio Cesaro

Aksana gets nailed with a neckbreaker and pinned by Layla. Layla and Great Khali dance in the ring. This was what it was.

Cody Rhodes has another Money in the Bank qualifying match against Christian later tonight.

Cody Rhodes pinned Christian

If Rhodes wins, he gets into the World Heavyweight Title Money in the Bank Match. Rhodes and Christian have a pretty good match, with a fun finishing sequence on WWE Smackdown. Beautiful disaster is avoided, Killswitch turned into the Cross Rhodes for the pin. Rhodes is in Money in the Bank.

Zack Ryder is at the party, Heath Slater tries to be the show. Ryder plays the music of Brodus Clay and we have a dance party.

Dolph Ziggler pinned Alex Riley in a Money in the Bank Qualifying Match

Hey, Riley, welcome, to Smackdown, don't enjoy your stay too much. Ziggler easily gets right in the Money in the Bank Match with the Zig Zag.

Michael Cole is out to interview A.J. He accuses her of being crazy and suggests that he was a huge mistake of the Board of Directors to entrust her with refereeing the WWE Championship Match between Daniel Bryan and CM Punk. Cole then tries to hit on A.J., which is hilarious. Daniel Bryan is out, to lay some verbal smackage on Michael Cole, always a treat. He says that A.J. will do a fine job and forgives her for causing him to be put through a table on Monday. CM Punk is out, to dismiss Cole. Punk says he'll be honest and perhaps he has a bit of himself to blame for A.J.'s current state of mind.

However, Daniel Bryan is a piece of garbage who is trying to use her, says Punk. Daniel Bryan then accuses Punk of needing A.J. to beat him and says that he is trying to influence her as the referee. A.J. makes out with Daniel Bryan and then with Punk. She then skips away. Of course, WWE couldn't do a really crazy girl, because no one's gotten stabbed promptly after being made out with but the thought is there.

Yeah this storyline, I'm still kind of iffy about it. The WWE Championship really has went down in value over the past year and this storyline does no one any favors. It has its compelling moments but I'd rather see an even match between Daniel Bryan and CM Punk. Although it distresses me that a great deal of the WWE Universe disagrees, but alas, people at up stuff like this, because that's just how society is. Still any segment involving Michael Cole getting ripped apart I'm a fan of.

Santino Marella, Sgt. Slaughter, and Jim Duggan defeated Camacho, Drew McIntyre, and Hunico.

Really just a crowd pleasing six man tag team match, so I can't really fault them for that. McIntyre continues to get the shaft, but that's nothing new. Hunico gets pinned with the Cobra.

Damien Sandow argues about what the intentions of the Founding Fathers were and disapproves of the crass partying. Yeah, if you believe half of the rumors about the Founding Fathers, something tells me they would fit right in with the insanity of professional wrestling. Sandow and Ryder brawl. Eve gets punched thrown at her. I bet that wasn't the only liquid to get splattered on her face.

Ryback defeated Curt Hawkins

Hawkins wins a coin toss with Tyler Reks. Promptly Ryback squashes him. Feed him more! Usual stuff from Ryback.

Zack Ryder won a Twenty Man Battle Royal

Winner becomes General Manager of Smackdown next week. So many possibilities. Good stuff right in this match. Kane dumps Ziggler and Christian at the end and we have Zack Ryder against Kane. Doom for Zack Ryder, perhaps? WRONG! Zack Ryder, after all of these months, gets his vengeance against Kane, putting out in a Battle Royal. It is a shame that it happens on Smackdown and few people will remember. Zack Ryder, your patron saint of WWE Superstars, is the General Manager of Smackdown for next week.

That show did an excellent job in reinforcing why I avoid watching Smackdown.
