WWE Summerslam 2012 Recap

WWE Summerslam 2012 took place on August 19th 2012. The two main matches featured John Cena, the Big Show, and CM Punk for the WWE Championship and Brock Lesnar faced off against Triple H. The Wrestling Emporium brings a review of WWE Summerslam 2012, breaking down the good, the bad, and the ugly. More thoughts are available in the link in the corresponding WWE Summerslam tab.

WWE Summerslam 2012 Review.

The Good.

Brock Lesnar against Triple H had a great match. Hopefully Lesnar is back on track and Triple H did the right thing.

The Triple Threat Match really had its moments but it had the standard Triple Threat finish. That finish is just par for the course for WWE. Punk retained his championship.

Antonio Cesaro is the new WWE United States Champion. Santino had a fun run but it was time for something new.

Jericho against Ziggler had some great action and fun moments.

Miz versus Rey Mysterio for the WWE Intercontinental Championship was another good match. Rey might have lost a step but Miz's somewhat push continued. The test of late 2011 and early 2012 should serve him well. Whether or not he'll get close to the title again, likely not.

The Bad.

Ziggler seems to be following Daniel Bryan's trajectory from last year. He's lost more matches then he has won. Then again, WWE has the habit of beating the Money in the Bank briefcase holders a bunch of times. It's their way of setting up challengers.

Daniel Bryan against Kane had a rather weak finish.

Sheamus against Del Rio had a bland match and the feud continued for another month. Or at least one more match on WWE Smackdown. Sheamus needs a new opponent. Hopefully Wade Barrett will be that opponent.

The purpose of the WWE Tag Team Title Match really fell flat. R-Truth and Kofi Kingston retained their belts.

The Ugly.

Nothing really bad, even if Summerslam just seemed rather underwhelming. An awesome B-Show Pay Per View but it paled when you consider the standards of WWE Summerslam in the past.

RAW tonight will be three hours. Preview should be up later.
